Identifying every vehicle, with or without a licence plate

Not every vehicle on a site has a licence plate that can be effectively used for access control.

Company cars, personal vehicles, utility vehicles, trucks, construction equipment, forklifts, two-wheelers, delivery vehicles and contractor vehicles: the diversity of vehicles can make licence-plate-based identification alone insufficient.

To ensure consistent access control, organisations need to be able to identify every authorised vehicle, regardless of its type.

Combining an RFID tag installed on the vehicle with a Spectre or Spectre nano reader provides an effective solution.

The vehicle is automatically identified as it enters the reading zone, without relying on the presence or readability of a licence plate.

This approach makes it possible to apply personalised access rules to each vehicle while ensuring reliable, automatic and seamless identification.

Adapting identification to the environment

Not every access point requires the same reading distance.With the Spectre range, vehicles can be identified at distances of up to 14 metres using an RFID tag installed on the vehicle. The Spectre nano provides identification at distances of up to 6 metres, making it particularly suitable for configurations requiring more targeted identification.

Identify the vehicle — and the driver

In some environments, identifying the vehicle alone is not enough. It may be necessary to verify three elements simultaneously:

Which vehicle?
Which driver?
Which authorisation?

Combined with STid Mobile ID, the Spectre nano uses RFID and BLE to identify both the vehicle and its driver via their smartphone. This dual identification approach strengthens access control while maintaining a seamless, contactless experience.
