The use of access control systems is commonplace. Simply swiping a badge or a smartphone across a reader is enough to gain access to offices or public establishments. But the technological solutions differ according to the establishments requiring protection. With our partner SECURE Systems & Services, we recently deployed a new high-security solution to protect the Quai Branly-Jacques Chirac Museum.

Why protect the Quai Branly-Jacques Chirac Museum?

The Museum, which welcomes 1,350,000 visitors every year, is divided up into several areas with controlled access: the exhibition areas, the stores containing collections and the security and IT departments.

The different security levels are based on the user profiles, from visitors to museum employees. The goal was to provide easy access to the different areas only for authorized persons.

Several needs have to be met:

  • Modernize the access control system with secure and long-lasting technologies
  • Propose a modular system that meets the changing needs of all the users

Choosing an access control system amounts to protecting your personnel, property and data. Current threats and rising mobility demand stronger identity protection, a technique in which STid has been specialized for more than 20 years.

With our partner SECURE & Services and its Evolynx iPerflex security solution, which has already been deployed on hundreds of sites worldwide in the defense, industrial, aerospace, energy and major tertiary sectors, we reworked the entire security system.

Which were the right technological solutions to protect security at the Quai Branly-Jacques Chirac Museum?

The 125 kHz badges used in the past had a visible identifier on the card. The badges could easily be copied. This security fault has now been corrected with the MIFARE DESFire EV2 technology.

Alexandre Lorente, Business Manager at SECURE explains. “The MIFARE DESFire technology raises the level of security significantly. As well as using a new technology, the data is now encrypted. Our system decrypts the data to identify the user. Thanks to the STid technologies, the badges can no longer be forged. With these new security mechanisms, the slightest security breach immediately denies access.”

This is where STid’s high-security Architect® access readers come into play. STid was the first manufacturer to receive “Level 1 Security Certification (CSPN)” from the French state agency for information systems security (ANSSI). Access to doors and elevators is controlled by 200 readers from the Architect® range, whose elegant design blends into the museum perfectly.

What are the benefits?

In the deployment phase, the museum’s technical staff was able to call on SECURE and STid for on-site interventions and remote assistance. The various user profiles followed training modules adapted to their own particular needs and are already 100% operational.

The daily wait at the entrance is now shorter and the quality of service is higher.

Another benefit appreciated by the museum’s employees is that the badges can also be used with equipment (printers, secure cupboards, etc.) and for services, including the canteen.

The web technology and the optimized interface of Evolynx Iperflex provide smoother traffic and greater ease of use.

As well as providing a higher level of security, STid’s new Architect® readers are appreciated for their easy and intuitive use as well as their upgradeability.

Thank you to our partner SECURE and the Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac Museum for this collaboration.

Why not try it out for yourself on the spot?
